Oliville

Oliville!

Can a group of oddball cartoon characters, living in a land called Oliville, change the way elementary school kids think about nutrition?

Oli, the namesake of this virtual village (www.oliville.com), is a walking-talking food barometer. Feed him some broccoli or fish and he begins the transition to buff-meister. But ply him with sodas and a triple-decker burger (particularly if followed by some caramel-coated hair balls), and let's just say you may want to duck.

Other residents of Oliville include Steve103, a somewhat clueless, but nice 10 year old, his older sister Juby, who's a bit of a know-it-all (even when she doesn't), and their dog Bentley, who has some gross doggy things in his repertoire. The only "adult" in Oliville is known as Angry Guy. But you'd be cranky too if your job description included wiping down computer screens after Oli blows.

While the cast of characters and the measure of kid humor are designed to encourage fun-loving game play, the underlying messages are clearly about making better food choices and getting exercise.

Oliville was developed under the direction of California Olive Committee's agency, Vittles, with offices in Sausalito, CA and Virginia Beach, VA, and created and produced by Stratum New Media of Norfolk, VA.
